does the nioxin shampoo stop thinning and male pattern baldness. does it stop or slow down a receding hairline?

first off, you should check their website...or even wikipedia...rather than getting uneducated people claiming to be hair stylists answering you here. those websites will probably be more informative.
that being said, yes, in a way, it does. There is a hormone called DHT that builds up on the scalp that can contribute to baldness. This DHT can cover the follicle and in some cases actually harden over it making it impossible for the hair to grow. Nioxin cleanser is specifically formulated to break down buildup of DHT.
DHT is not the ONLY cause of baldness. If it is, in fact, what's causing the baldness then Nioxin should work to help regrow hair. If the hair loss is caused by some other factor then this treatment wouldn't work.Nioxin shampoo question??? please help!!!!?
I doubt it. It's a good quality product, but removing residue from inside the follicle? I don't know that something like that would be desirable, let alone safe (or possible!)

I'm a female and I noticed my hair was thinning some from stress. I used the ';noticably thinning'; formulation (just the shampoo and conditioner three times a week). My hairline and scalp bounced back thicker with little new hairs. It took about three weeks.

nope, My boyfriend is really self conscious of his hair, because its thinning out and he loses so Much hair in the shower he also is getting a receding hair line. I've tried Nixon from, and it had no improvement he used it every day. I paid over $100 for the shampoo, conditioner and some hair treatment serum. But I have seen some good reviews. But it didn't work for my boyfriend.

I have recently started using Nioxin, I absolutely love the shampoo and conditioner, however with the scalp treatment I find it makes my hair go all stiff and horrible and makes my head itch a bit. Does anyone else have the same effects?Nioxin Shampoos?

It has nothing to do with ';cleaning';. Although Nioxin is a good scalp cleanser it has chemicals that help the hair at the shaft stimulate growth. Make sure you are using the scalp therapy with the shampoo and conditioner. I think that is the true key to success with this product.

Nioxin makes hair grow so yes I would think that it would help with male pattern baldness. It also cleans the scalp because there the shampoo is supposed to stay in the hair a few minutes before washing it out and using the conditioner
